I still can’t believe Ross and I have been together for 9 years, NINE. Where has the time gone? I feel like the older I get the quicker my life goes. We decided this year would be a relatively quiet anniversary, with a wedding coming up we are trying to save as much as we can (sometimes!!). This year we went and bought our wedding rings. What girl wouldn’t love that as an anniversary present??? I think I was more excited for this than I was when I went dress shopping. Diamonds are a girls best friend after all.
We were quite lucky that when Ross bought my engagement ring he got given a 15% discount code for wedding rings. I know it doesn’t sound a lot, but believe me it really does. Once again, I totally underestimated how much our wedding rings would cost. Anyway, it’s a deal that Chisholm Hunter do, but I’m sure many other jewellers will do something similar. I had been looking forward to this day all week and it felt amazing to have some time out in the town, just the two of us, buying something so special.
As always my day out starts with a coffee stop. We went to Cafe Nero just because it was so close to the station, but oh my goodness. WHY IS IT SO EXPENSIVE THERE? Like, genuinely we got two herbal teas and a flimsy fruit bar and it was nearly £10! Wont be going back there in a hurry!
We spent a good hour in the jewellers after that, I was sipping on bubble’s while Ross had a beer. I really couldn’t have asked for such a better service. The girls were so helpful and showed us basically everything in the shop. I chose my ring within 20 minutes. I knew as soon as I put it on. It fit perfectly and looked amazing with my engagement, and even without it! Ross on the other hand wasn’t so easy to please. I suppose if you have never worn jewellery its hard to decide on what you like. He did eventually pick one and I’ve never seen him suit anything more than that wedding ring.
The celebrations continued after that with a trip to La Vita, George Square. The meal was incredible. I don’t think you can ever have too much Italian food, can you? By the time our main was over and the wine was finished we felt physically sick, but still managed to squeeze in some ice-cream. If you’ve never been, I can’t recommend it more. It’s a very traditional Italian restaurant. Small, but full of atmosphere.
I have popped some pictures below. I did think about posting the pictures of our rings, but I think I will keep that private until the big day.
Until next time, happy Sunday!
